Dual Enrollment
Middleborough High School is pleased to provide a unique opportunity to our Juniors and Seniors to gain college experience while still attending high school. A student in good academic standing (a 3.0 GPA or better and taking CP/Honors courses) has the opportunity to enroll in college courses at Bridgewater State University, UMASS Dartmouth, and Massasoit Community College . As of the fall of 2008, Middleboro students may also take courses on-line through Fitchburg State University.
Students are eligible for a reduced high school schedule of one block less per college course taken. Students earn both college credit and high school credit, though the high school credit does not count towards their high school GPA or class rank. The cost of enrollment is far cheaper than it would be to take a college course outside of this program. Students generally have little trouble transferring these college credits to the colleges they attend. Therefore a student not only gains a valuable experience, they also show colleges that they can be successful in a college environment, and they are ahead of other incoming college freshman in credits.
There are registration deadlines that students must be aware of. Spring enrollment goes on in November, and Fall enrollment takes place in May. If you have further questions about Dual Enrollment, please contact Mr. Goldman in the Guidance Department. (508) 946-2014 x3133
